Job Description: This position will work closely with the Director of Recreation and assist in managing the Recreation Department including planning, training and overseeing of the pool facilities, as well as family or convention group recreational activities for the Hershey Lodge. Job Functions: Oversee daily activities and events, pool operations, lifeguard and activities staff. Maintain proper water conditions, including chemical levels, in swimming pools. Hiring, training, scheduling, editing payroll, motivating, developing, and managing performance of staff. Ensure cleanliness of the facility. Conduct lifeguard training classes. Monitor lifeguard certifications. Host weekly in-service training for lifeguards. Conduct inventory of equipment and supplies within the department. Planning and facilitating all social and recreational events, as well as themed weekends for Hershey Lodge transient guests and convention groups. Conduct and attend department and property meetings. Fill in for lifeguards and activities attendants as needed. Oversee annual health club membership renewal process. Assist with preparation of annual budget. Participate in rotating “Manager on Duty” program. Basic Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum 2 years lifeguarding experience Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of recreation experience; OR an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of recreation experience; OR Equal Equivalent Experience of 4 years of recreation experience. Must have 2 years supervisory experience Must have a valid Driver’s License Additional Qualifications: Degree in Recreation Management preferred Preferred Certifications: Lifeguard Instructor Certification, Aquatics Facility Operator Certification (AFO) and/or Certified Pool Operator Certifications (CPO). Pesticide Certification (category 24), preferred Working knowledge and familiarity of Aquatic Facility Pump Room Working knowledge of basic computer skills of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Must embody Hershey Entertainment & Resorts core values (Devoted to the Legacy, Selfless Spirit of Service, Team Focused, Respectful of Others) Working Conditions: Physical requirements include complete mobility and good physical conditioning, good hearing and vision, and ability to work in all environments, including cool and hot temperatures. Must be able to lift a maximum of 75 lbs. Schedule varies according to operational needs, but includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
